Partner Dr James Tinning is an implant dentist and restorative dentist based at Shelley and Pope. He joined the practice in 2017 and became a co-owner of the practice in early 2021 and has a special interest in restorative dentistry, with a clinical focus on fixed tooth replacement solutions including dental implants, crowns, and bridges.

James has completed a Master’s degree in Restorative Dentistry and has gained the significant Membership in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a qualification that recognises his skills in implant planning, placement, and restoration. He is a member for the association of dental implantology, the British society of restorative dentistry and of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

James provides a range of treatments including Invisalign, smile makeovers, and cosmetic dental work, as well as treatment under dental sedation for anxious patients.

Dr Tinning is committed to clinical excellence, combining advanced digital dentistry with a gentle and personalised approach. He receives referrals from other dentists for more involved implant and restorative cases, and also provides implant surgery at other dental practices elsewhere in the country.

James has lectured to other dentists on topics such as dental implants, crown and bridgework, and restorative dental techniques. He is also co-author of a peer-reviewed article published in the British Dental Journal on implant dentistry.

We welcome new patients, and James is pleased to accept both private and Denplan patients. He also works in close collaboration with referring dentists on restorative and implant cases across the north west. Outside of dentistry, James lives in South Manchester with his family and has interests in Motorsport and following Newcastle United.
